Since I did not receive any comments whatsoever with respect to posting of vinyl rips in Audacity file format, I take it that there is no interest hence I will not be attempting to post vinyl rips in any format from henceforth.

Water damage in the living room forcing me to sort out LPs, Singles and CDs etc. The following images show some stuff being sorted out and re-discovered.

RC Succession's Rhapsody, Ohtaki's Long Vacation, and Yazawa's Gold Rush always make good listening

I could post much of the LPs, but I would rather keep them as Audacity files rather than covert them into MP3, I seem to loose much signal on conversion - most likely due to my ignorance + other shortcomings, on my part, in using some of the music processing software etc, also I am not keen in dishing out moola for a turntable that would allow direct conversion into MP3 - senseless as I already use a Technics - was about to spin YMO's Public Pressure.

However, before all this vinyl rip can start, I need to be re-install the OS on my machine - unsure of when that would occur but when that happens all posted ZIP files would not be accessible because of SYNC function between my machine and MEGA. Nevertheless, all ZIP files will be re-posted, if required, once I get back on-line again. I will keep all posted as to when re-installation begins.

Need a yeah, nah, rotten tomatoes respond to determine if I should go ahead with posting music in Audacity file format. Therefore, do leave a comment or two.

I will be away for most parts of December to some forsaken place hence there will not be any postings for the good part of that month.

Hey to all - the aforementioned downloads were re-up and is currently on-line. Thanks to Alexei and Anonymous for the heads-up. 

Really disappointed to hear that Jun's Mega account has been suspended, but I am sure that he will re-post all soon. We need to realize that that my Mega account will go the same way too, and it is only a matter of time. Moreover, Blogspot may also decide to shut this blog down as it has done so with other blogs - most notably Fen's. But in the meantime enjoy the tunes, and there is more stuff to come.

NOTE: POSTING OF VINYL RIPS

I attempted some vinyl rips but I am still trying to get the ripping and post - ripping processes straightened out. I do not own an USB turntable which allows for easy ripping hence there remains to determine what else I might need to ease the ripping process. 

The bitrate for these first attempts will be at 128 kps, and I may or may not separate the recorded segments into individual tracks but, instead, record and present one side of the LP as one MP3 file. Whenever possible, I will append playing time for each track as this will assist in identifying the track on the time slider on, say, Windows Media Player. I will work to rip at 320 kps and lossless, and towards separating the recorded segments into individual tracks and any added bells and whistles which may be useful.

In the mean time do enjoy whatever little that is posted.

Happy Holidays - Merry Xmas and Happy New Year 2014

Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays to all and wishing everyone a great and best ever 2014. Next year will be a busy year for me with changes and moving around hence I will not be able to post as much (not that I post a lot of stuff !) as I would like to. Long periods between postings can be expected.

My X'mas present for 2013 was when I lucked out as I happened on a record shop on Main St. in South Vancouver. Staring at me among the stacks and stacks of occidental music was a vinyl copy of Nakamori Akina's Prolouge, in great condition, for CAN 5.00. Imagine, of all the places to find such a desirable piece of vinyl!

Southern All Stars サザンオールスターズ - Comeback 25th June 2013

TOKYO

Legendary Japanese rock band Southern All Stars on Tuesday announced that they will reunite five years after they split. The announcement was such big news in Japan’s entertainment world that some newspapers handed out extras in front of train stations such as Shimbashi and Shibuya in Tokyo. Tuesday marked the 35th anniversary of the band’s debut.

Southern All Stars will release a new CD single called “Peace and Highlight” in August as well as play nine concerts in five cities—Yokohama (Aug 10-11), Kobe (Aug 17-18), Chigasaki (Aug 31-Sept 1), Toyota City (Sept 7-8) and Miyagi (Sept 22).  

The band announced they were splitting up in 2008 to pursue solo projects. Frontman Keisuke Kuwata canceled a scheduled nationwide tour in 2010 to undergo surgery for cancer of the esophagus. After the operation, he made a triumphant comeback on NHK’s New Year’s Eve program “Kohaku Uta Gassen” on Dec 31, 2010, and in 2011, released a solo album which rocketed to the top of Japan’s Oricon album chart. Last summer, Kuwata released a double-CD album of 30 singles he released as a solo artist. He has also taken part in many activities to help victims of the March 11, 2011 disaster. 

“I was wondering when they would come back. But I knew that it would be this year. It’s their 35th anniversary, that’s why,” one excited fan told Sports Nippon paper.
